In several awarding categories, including those whose authors are just entering the exciting world of comics, it seems that the hardest part was to select this year's best graphics: competing comics were really, each in its own way, a small masterpieces of inks, colors, frames, figures, shadows and atmosphere. Thematically, the works covered the usual range of epic and science fiction, via historical comics and up to the poetic and bold entries on the border of experiment. Particularly noticeable was the presence of comics inspired by themes from the First World War, as was to be expected for this year marks a 1. Continuous interest of young, as well as renowned artists, willing and eager to present their new works to professionals and wider audience at the Belgrade comics festival, shows that this manifestation has already become extremely important place for meetings of authors of different sensibilities and styles.
